Miguel Lobón, partner in the commercial law department, publishes his column in ON Economía, giving his assessment of why Spain is attractive to foreign investors and for M&A transactions.
Our expert points to “the economic reconfiguration left in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic” as one of the reasons. He explains: “M&A transactions have been seen as a viable solution to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and take advantage of economies of scale.”
In his opinion, one of the sectors that has benefited the most is technology: “Digitalization, accelerated by mobility restrictions and the change in consumer habits that many of us have adopted, has driven many technology companies to grow rapidly.”
Although he is aware of the uncertainty that the macroeconomic and political situation is instilling in the market, he believes that foreign investors can “take advantage of opportunities in an environment rich in potential for those willing to take certain risks” in terms of M&A transactions.
