María M. Pardo de Vera, partner in the Data Protection and Compliance area, participates in the Iberian Lawyer podcast Women in Law: The Road to Success. In the program, she talks about the possibilities offered by combining regulatory compliance with the application of new technologies and the benefits of tools such as Artificial Intelligence.
Her expertise in data protection is also combined with that of compliance, and on the convergence of both fields she comments: “We have to find that balance between innovating and continuing to do things and incorporating technology, because we are going to need it anyway, while being respectful of individual rights and compliance.”
In addition, María explains how law runs in her family, although when she studied for her degree, she realized that “none of the subjects I had studied had generated much interest in me.” It was while looking for a master's degree that she discovered the world of digital law, her current area of specialization.
