From our foundation in 1973 by Mr. Esteban Ceca Magán until today, the firm has been a privileged witness of the events that have shaped the Spain we know today.

Founding of the firm by Mr. Esteban Ceca Magán, labour lawyer, August 2, 1973. Opening of the first office in Calle Padre Damián, Madrid.
Incorporation to the office of the lawyer and brother of our founder, Alejandro Ceca Magán.
In the 90s', we acquired our first big client from the IBEX35, who still in 2023 remains with us as a firm for his labour matters.
The company's longest-serving employee joins the company, Mamen Roldán - secretary of Mr. Esteban Ceca Magán; This, to this day, still remains putting up a fight with the young laborists.
Since 2000, Opening of new areas to complement services to our clients in the fields of Litigation, Civil and Corporate Law.
The second generation joins the firm as employees, Esteban Ceca Gómez-Arevalillo and Enrique Ceca Gómez-Arevalillo.
The professionalisation of the firm required a digitalisation process, both to adapt to the new ways of working and to gain in efficiency, we implemented the first ERP.
Our firm was selected for the first time by an International Alliance to form part of a network of international law firms, thus having the opportunity to offer our legal services at an international level.
The annual ranking of the financial newspaper Expansión includes the firm for the first time among the top 50 law firms in the country in terms of turnover.
The evolution and growth of the firm required a larger space. In May 2011 we moved to our current headquarters in Madrid to Calle Velázquez, 150. More functional, modern offices in a premium location in the Spanish capital.
Our national expansion begins, we open our second office in Barcelona with the incorporation of partner Nicolás de Salas and his team.
The Labour area is recognised for the first time by the prestigious international directory Legal500.
Juan Antonio Linares, partner of the Labour area, joins the firm as the first partner from a top-tier firm. The great professional had been practising for 20 years at the renowned firm Cuatrecasas and was an alternate judge at the Madrid Supreme Court, and opted for CECA MAGÁN Abogados to strengthen the area that is recognised as the flagship of the firm.
For the first time, the international directory Chambers & Partners recognizes the quality of our firm with the entry of the Labour area.
A generational handover takes place. Esteban Ceca Magán makes way for his sons: Esteban Ceca Gómez-Arevalillo will become managing partner of the firm, and Enrique Ceca, managing partner of the Labour area. This is the firm's turning point, when the brothers decided to make a firm commitment to opening new areas and lines of business in order to become a benchmark firm at a multidisciplinary level in the legal field for companies.
The international directory Best Lawyers recognises the prestige and knowledge of the majority of our partners.
The III Edition of the Expansión Awards recognises CECA MAGÁN Abogados among the law firms "that have managed to find innovative solutions in the labour area with the most success in Spain".
The opening of the office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife takes place, betting on the entrepreneurial and business potential that the idiosyncrasy of the islands offers in the legal sector.
The professionalisation of the firm's staff areas takes place with the incorporation in the divisions of Human Resources, Marketing, Communication and administrative and financial departments.
The international Leaders League directory incorporates the firm for the first time, in the categories of Litigation & Arbitration - Labour Litigation, Commercial Litigation and White Collar Crime; in IT&Data Protection and in Private Equity.
The firm is selected by the renowned international alliances FLI, LAW and Celiá as the only law firm of reference in Spain. This allows us to offer legal services to our clients in more than 150 international jurisdictions with the best local firms in each country.
On 13 March, the worldwide Covid19 pandemic was declared a State of Alarm. For our firm it was an intense period of work, trying to help our clients with their legal matters. The labour area team managed some of the main ERTEs carried out in Spain, providing support and assistance in times of insecurity and uncertainty to more than 300 companies.
We suffered first-hand the worst consequences of the COVID19 pandemic, in which we lost the partner in charge of the Criminal area, Adrián Dupuy.
Legal500 adds to the Labour area other areas giving us its international recognition: Environment, Bankruptcy and Restructuring, Litigation and Arbitration.
This same year, the labour team also received the Best Team Award at the Iberian Lawyers FortyUnder40, a recognition to the youngest professionals of the firm.
The expansion of our firm throughout Spain continues with the opening of two new offices in strategic enclaves:
- Sevilla (Andalusia) direct opening with its own team to support the Andalusian market, increasingly demanding of our services.
- Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, integrating local professionals to offer a service close to the growing needs of the island's clients.
For the first time, the prestigious international directory Chambers & Partners recognises the team of the Commercial & M&A area as Best Team, which joins the Labour team, the only area recognised until then.
National Legal Law Gala Marcom 2022: awards our firm as Best Law Firm in the categories of Talent Attraction and Best Marketing, Communication and/or Business Development Initiative based on the #EstiloCeca.
WE CELEBRATE OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY. And for the first time, the firm wins the award for Best Firm of the Year at the Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards and Best Spanish Firm in the labor category by Leaders League. Best Law Firm in the Law&Trends Digital Reputation ranking for the second consecutive year.
Inauguration of a new office in Barcelona, with more modern and spacious facilities in Avenida Diagonal. Awarded for the second consecutive year as Best Firm of the Year at the Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards and recognized for the first time the Laboral Barcelona and Litigation and Arbitration teams in Chambers & Partners Europe. Legal500 recognizes our commercial area for the first time.
