A graduate in Law from Universidad de Navarra, José Nicolás studied Corporate and Banking Law at Banco de Expansión Cultural, S.A. and was the head of its Legal Department from 1980 to 1986. At the end of 1986 he has to request a leave of absence, as he was elected MP in the legislative election held in June of that same year.
His time in politics and the financial industry gas shaped Nicolás’s entire professional career, and has given him a distinct edge when handling commercial and procedural matters. Seeking for further equity in Law, he has passionately advocated for the strictest application of Procedure Law before the a court of law, thus gaining recognition thanks to a number of favorable rulings.
He is and has been General Secretary of several associations and organizations in the civil society as part of their managing boards, and has also been Secretary of the Board of Directors of many companies.
